90's flashback!

So does anyone remember this song?! My husband has been singing it the past few days and it totally reminded me of when I was like 10! haha Enjoy :)

Enigma - Return To Innocence

I love the unicorn running backwards! I took it one step further and looked it up on Wikipedia to find out what it was in and I thought it was funny that it said most people assume it's an aboriginal American man singing when it's actually a Taiwanese chant that they took without permission from another song! Drama!

Hope you're having a great day!

On a wet gross Sunday

Hello! I'm going to play Getting to Know You with this wonderful blog!

1. Do you have a fetish?
Hmmm I would say no.. my husband would probably say yes? With camels, and clothes? I actually just googled the definition because all I've ever heard that word used for is people having foot fetishes...I found this- "an object or bodily part whose real or fantasied presence is psychologically necessary for sexual gratification and that is an object of fixation to the extent that it may interfere with complete sexual expression"
Hmm I guess my hubby Race is my fetish for this definition :)

2. Do you sing in the shower?
Not normally unless I have music! Lately I've been bringing my laptop in and turning it up to the max volume and screaming to the lyrics! A lot of times worship music..sometimes a little Lady Gaga and Ke$ha!

3. Who was your first crush?
I'll tell you what (said in a hillbilly voice)! I had several.. but my first true crush was Christopher Carson who was in my mom's daycare. I was 6 and he was 5 and we would go swing and I'd grab his hand and get our swing's in sync so we'd be "married!" When we'd watch Barney I remember trying to snuggle up to him on the couch and he'd mumble and grumble about cooties or something.. I was always a little forward and liked my boys a little bit younger.. I always tell Race those 3 months I was alive in 1986 before him were the best of my life and he really missed out..

4. What do you think is the best manly trait a guy could have?
Loving Jesus and leading his family in Him
able to fix stuff
nice big muscles :)

5. Do you sleep naked?

Wouldn't you like to know?!

6. What do you do when (you think) no one is looking?

pop blackheads (ewwww) too much information I know!

7. What's the first thing you do when you go online?

Check my email

8. Summer is....................?

The Best in OREGON! No humidity and cool nights with hot days, a chorus of crickets, lots and lots of boating and wakeboarding, really good bbqs at my parent's house and at church, CAMPING with our favorite people, shooting stars, campfires, smores, riding horses, swimming everyday with the kids I nanny, my birthday, my most favorite season, our anniversary, and hopefully this summer will include a new PUPPY!! (we'll see about that last one..fingers crossed that Race will get a better job and we can afford one:)

Ugh it feels like I haven't blogged in forever! Lately I've been spending too much time reading others and not doing my own but I'm okay with that. I had a great weekend and went to my cousin's lovely baby shower today! Made me get the baby itch for a few minutes and then I remembered all the crying, pooping, and the selflessness you have to give to that new little munchkin. I think we'll keep waiting :)

Race and I had a pretty laid back weekend which was nice and we babysat together Friday night for a wedding rehearsal (twice the money score!) and then Saturday morning we went to a rummage sale. I hung out with Lauren from the little things we do and went thrifting and tried kombucha tea for the first time. Then my sister and I saw "Letters to Juliet" and Race took our little buddy Kovassia to see the new Shrek. He spent the night and we took him to church and lunch today with my parents. Race and I just watched Where The Wild Things Are and I was a little let down. I loved the music and creativity but thought it was kinda sad and up and down like an emotional roller coaster! I guess that's how kids are though! Now I'm being really weird and watching the Lost finale while writing this even though I haven't seen the last two seasons.. I heard rumors on facebook about what the island is and wanted to see what I think! Race will break his leg one of these summers wakeboarding and then we'll lock ourselves up and watch them from the beginning. That's what my pastor did when he got hurt. :)

I'm excited about getting new followers! I think when I hit 50 I'll do my first giveaway to reward you and celebrate! haha

Have a great night and I'll leave you with this.. Race was filling out the forms to graduate a few months ago and found this picture of me on the school website! haha

Getting to know you late Sunday night..

1. The most expensive thing hanging in my closet is.....?
Hmmm that's tough.. I would say my wedding dress but I'm not sure where it is.. I think in one of my parent's closets.. so probably either purses, or jackets

2. Have you ever played a team sport?

I did t-ball when I was little and some softball .. I did high school equestrian team all four years.. I joined the polo team on my horse at college, rode at a few practices and then dropped it when I heard how expensive it was and they started asking me for money!
haha I think I'm more of a non team sport person though with horses, wakeboarding, and snowboarding. I looooove football a whole lot though and want my boys (assuming I have some) to play!

3. If you were a bug, what kind would you be?

NOT a cricket since I see Echo chowing down on one right now.. ants and bees work too hard so not those.. probably a fat and happy caterpillar!

4. Where on your body is the worst place to get sunburned?

Thankfully I don't burn easily and it turns to tan.. but I will burn on my scalp when my hair is parted and that is the worst! It hurts every time I brush my hair and then peels and flakes which looks sick nasty! I hate putting greasy sunscreen in my hair so I try and not have a part showing or sometimes spray sunscreen does the the trick.

5. Are you happy?

I am! I am filled with joy and have a purpose because of my Savior. :) I know that my time here is temporary and I get super excited thinking about Heaven! I also have a great husband, wonderful family, great pets, and the best of friends! A roof over my head, food in the cupboard, plus a whole lot of shoes and jeans- I have a lot to be thankful for!

6. People are always abbreviating..are there any abbreviations that make your skin crawl when people use them?

A year or so ago my husband's brother said that he and his friends were just "mobbing" around! It didn't really make my skin crawl but it made us laugh and sounded so high schoolish/ hip! He also says "dank" a lot which I didn't like at first because I think it is used to describe good weed? ... but I find myself saying it to Race sometimes now! haha I don't like making fun of abbreviations because then if I say it I'm a total hypocrite.. but there are some pretty ridiculous ones.. pretty safe to say I will never say "lmfao".. I'm not that crude! :)

7. Do you love where you live..or could you live anywhere?

I love Oregon SOO much! Everyone exaggerates how rainy it is which annoys me because it's really not that bad. We have nice cool nights in the summer with no humidity during the day. I live an hour from the mountain, an hour and twenty minutes from the beach, 3 hours from the high desert and we have pretty much everything else in between! Lots of sweet lakes and rivers for boating, huge forests, amazing hiking, a very friendly and clean city..what more could you want?! Oh we also have Tillamook cheese which is the best, fun college rivalries, oh and a little company called Nike started here.

With that being said.. I spent the first 5 years of my life in Vermont and love the east coast. We have gone back 1-2 times a year my whole life to visit family. Usually we go to Massachusetts and Pennsylvania where they live but sometimes we'll hit up New York and Vermont too. I'm a big Patriots, Red Sox, and Celtics fan and love all my uncle's strong Boston accents:)

I've always loved Colorado and think it is soo beautiful and the only thing that would bother me is how much snow they get..but they also get more sunny days then any other state! California I always have a blast visiting but the smoggy air makes me always appreciate coming home! I think I've been to around 30 states? I want to see them all, and then the world. We really want to spend some time in Thailand at some point and I want to go to Europe again and then Australia and South Africa sometime.. but I think I'd prefer to always live in the US. I'm proud to be an American and feel incredibly blessed living here when I could have just as easily been born somewhere like Burkina Faso which has the lowest caloric intake in the world and I hear stories about it from my pastor all the time.

Race is trying to find a better job and he has seem some opportunity in Arizona so who knows where we'll be the next few years, but I know (Lord willing) by the time I want kids I want to be back in Oregon!

8. What, if any, extreme measures do you go to to keep yourself from overeating when you're full?

Well I need to do more.. but I try now that I'm married (and have a husband who is trying to gain weight) I pass my food on over to him and he downs it before I can overeat or change my mind! haha

Hope everyone had a fantastic weekend!

My 5 favorites of this week so far!

It's time for Thursday Five..where we post..
5 things that have made us..
Joyful
Excited
Grateful
Appreciative
Elated
or just plain
Happy
this week..

then go link up here!

1. I had a blast going to my aunt and uncle's farm on Saturday (which is probably considered last week but oh well!)

Gizmo came with us and first he got a bath. :)

There were baby kittens!

Too bad that can't stay this size! I love kittens but am not a big fan of cats.. at least indoor ones, barn cats are great!

We bottle fed baby goats whose mama died! They have like 15 baby goats and 19 baby sheep! Soo cute and playful!

We took Race's graduation pics for an announcement and loved on our bunny!

Their vineyard is growing away!

Their beautiful house that they just moved into.
My aunt made a great dinner and Race and I hung around until late at night! Next time were bringing gear to spend the night since it's such a fun place to hang and 40 minutes away.

2. Spending a lovely Mother's Day with my mom and my new mother-in-law!

3. Sneaking into the neighbor apartment's hot tub with Race because ours has been in "maintenance" for like 2 weeks now! Shesh hurry it up! We had a push up contest next to the hot tub and he beat me by 2 when I really thought I had it in the bag! Something to work towards. :)

4. On that note another thing that makes me happy is that I've been exercising pretty consistently and eating healthier hooray!

5. Okay so today was the warmest day in Oregon yet this year and I took full advantage of it! I nannied some little girls all day and we had a picnic with our bunnies outside. When I was done Race and I headed downtown with his best bud and walked around Portland and saw the hubble movie I didn't end up seeing a few weeks back (I posted that I was going to see it)
It was at OMSI (Oregon museum of science and industry) which has a giant dome Imax theatre that makes it feel like you're actually there!

Here is a google image I found of omsi and the submarine that you can tour! It's a fun place and you should visit it if you ever come to Portland.
Anyways after the movie we walked around Hawthorne and I got sushi for the first time and it was WAY too salty..then we got Ben and Jerry's ice cream and used an Entertainment book coupon!

Anyways it's been such a great week and I could probably list 5 more things! My favorite thing of all is that my mare is finally "in-heat" and she has been getting "covered" by the stallion everyday!! Yay! I'm just praying she gets preggo right away because we probably can't afford to try again..

Tomorrow is FRIDAY!!!

Wishlist Wednesday

I'm in the mood for new shoes..

Wedges to be exact.. I have a hard time in heels but these guys make it soo much easier on me! Race are you reading this? Can I have them??

From the top:

I got this seafoam green Betsey Johnson dress off ebay a few weeks ago and think it deserves some shoes to go with it:)

Glad this is just a wishlist or we'll never be able to save up for a down payment on a house! One new pair would be nice though.. TJ Maxx and Nordstrom's Rack is where I end up getting most of my shoes but the site these are all from (Piperlime) is pretty great with free shipping and free returns!

Alright go let this lovely lady know if you join in!

"Paparazzi"

So I guess this video is all the rage so you may have seen it, but my sister just posted it to my facebook wall and I had to share! I'm seeing Lady Gaga in August and now I hope this guy will get asked to open for her! haha

This website tells more about him. He seems more talented then Justin Bieber to me but I'm no music expert. I loved the blonde girl's expressions from boredom to excitement to boredom! Exactly how I was in 6th grade.

That is all.

Two things I love around my apartment!

Hello! I need to go to bed but wanted to post two things I like around my house and hook up with one of my favorite blogs before she stops doing it for a while! So head on over to BacWoods Fern if you want to see other blogs who played!

So I have a thing for camels..
Got this guy at flea market for $4 the other day! haha I talked her down from $5- SUCCESS! I get nervous bartering when my mom is the opposite! She returns her seven for all mankind jeans to Nordstroms all the time for the knees getting "fuzzy" and they give her a new pair! I remember when we used to eat at Round Table pizza a lot when I was little and if the pizza was messed up she'd let them know and we'd get it free:) When we went to lunch on Sunday for Mother's Day Race and I beat her to the restaurant and she said she'd made reservations (it was packed) so we asked and we weren't on the list. Race right away said "your mom will take care of this." He knows her so well already and yes we were seated right away! I think it's the 12.5% Jew in her:) I like to think I'm related to Jesus (he was Jewish).. even if it's only by 6%.. I also consider myself African since we have relatives in South Africa and some that came over here from there! haha other then that I'm boring old British.. and Scottish. At what point should kids just say they're American? For so many people they've been here for so long! My Grandma came over from England so I guess mine isn't too far back..

I love this bell SO much! I got it for my mom at a vintage store for her preschool to let the kids take turns ringing when it's time to come inside.. and although she loved it, it proved to be too hard for their tiny little fingers to grasp onto.. so I went back to the flea market from where I rescued the camel and got one just like this for her-
it's a lot easier for the kids and now I have the pretty bell on top of my bookshelf! A win, win situation in my opinion:)
Maybe I should start collecting bells? Maybe not. At least until we have more space! I have too much stuff as it is.

Before I leave you I must announce that today I fell in love..
with this-

I looked at my "light" yogurt and guess what?! It had more sugar then this ice cream! I had one of the little mini cup versions (Albertsons is selling them for $1) and it had 180 calories and was like a cups worth and was SO good! So I guess I should start eating this instead of yogurt from now on... not.. but it's a great little treat and a switch from eating a popsicle every night as I've gotten in the habit of doing! Last night while eating my strawberry popsicle my bunny decided to join in on the fun-
Sorry it's blurry but I was like "quick! Race you have to document this!" I then had him take a video. Gizmo ate the whole corner off and it made my night. He is finally becoming more tame hooray!

I'm pretty pumped that Portland's 7 day forecast is like 68-78 degrees (is there no degrees key?!)! Bring on the dresses and shorts! I'm SO ready for warm weather and want it to stay although I'm sure this is just a teaser..

Alrighty goodnight blog world!

Happy Mothers Day!!

Thanks to me back in August 1986 my mom can even celebrate this day! So I should get some credit too right? I made this day possible for her! haha

I am SO thankful for my mom and her selflessness. She is the most generous person I know and has a true servant's heart! I love you mom!

Race and I met our mom's at our church and then got lunch at Claim Jumper. It was a gorgeous day so Race, my mom (my dad and sister were on a college retreat boating at Lake Shasta California) and I took the dog on a walk along the river and then we went to a self serve frozen yogurt place. It was nice spending Mother's Day with my mom after having been at Shasta the last 3 years of college!

I had an eventful Saturday at my relatives farm and will share photos tomorrow but for now here are some fun Chuck E. Cheese photos we got at our nephew's 7th birthday party a few weeks back-

Race, the birthday boy and I. It was really hard to get him to sit still for this photo with all the games around! We asked him if he'd do it with us and he said "no thanks"...so Race just kind of made him:)
He came for a sleepover after the party which was fun!

Race's cousin Jacinda, Race's bro Aaron,
Race and I

We obviously enjoyed spending our tokens on this one:) It acts like Chuck is "sketching" you when in reality we decided it has a really old printer that takes forever to spit them out!

Race and I went and looked at 2 "fixer-up" houses tonight on our way home from my parent's! I knew the street they were on so we gave ourselves a little self guided tour and peeked in the windows. They have big lots and are on the river which is super fun! I don't know if we can swing it, but it'd be SO nice to be putting money into something every month instead of seeing it disappear going into this apartment! Most importantly we would have a yard and could get a dog:) We love pugs but if we were on the river I'm thinking we'd need a water lovin' dog and I don't know if they are! So that's something were looking into and praying about. Race is going to make some calls tomorrow and see if we could even qualify for the loan we'd need. Now is definitely the right time to buy! I think it'd be fun to have a "fixer-up" for a first home too because it'll make us appreciate it and when we have a nicer one someday!

Alright we're going to finish a hilarious movie we started last night -Raising Arizona

Hope all the mothers out there had a wonderful day and felt loved! :)

My weekend with a lot of photos!

Heyheyhey! I just watched Glee which always leaves me in a good mood:) Especially since my hubby has given in and started watching it with me..and even laughing and liking it!
I can't believe this day is almost over. I feel like my life has started going by faster ever since I finished school and got married last summer. It's crazy how fast it feels now!

Last Thursday my work got cancelled (the little girl I was supposed to watch got pneumonia) so I went down to Corvallis (my college town) with my mom to surprise and visit my little sis!
We went on a hike at one of my favorite spots, Bald Hill.

Love these two!
Cute lil' lambies!

At the top of the hill looking down at Corvallis

It was a fun day and we ate at McMenamins and then we went to a frozen yogurt place where you put on your favorite toppings- sooo good! My mom and I drove home afterwards (it's about an hour and twenty minutes back up to Portland).
Here is the cute house next door to my college house-

Love all the flowers.

Here is the house I lived in the last 2 years of school and now my sister and her friend's do! It's in the historic district and there are a ton of old cute houses around it.

Friday night Race and I went to Red Robins and then we watched Bambi which he didn't remember that the mom deer dies.. I've been stocking up and buying all my favorite classic Disney movies for when we have kids one day:) I love the word in Bambi- twitterpated and I think I'm going to start incorporating that into my everyday speech..

On Saturday I took my mare to go stay with a stallion for a month to get pregnant!!
He is such a cute little quarter horse!

Here are some of his kiddos-

Here is his dad so it'll be the foal's grandpa-

Horse people like butt shots:)
He has cute foals and he is homozygous black meaning he will not throw "red" foals but I'll get a grulla, buckskin, or black! :) I miss Bella and hope she does well! I'm hoping to go visit this weekend. Anyways in 11 months I'll have a little baby and I can't wait!

Then we went to hang with our buds Cassie and Mike and tried out a new McMenamins by their house called "Hotel Oregon" now we have been to 11 out of 57, one more checked off!
We ate on the roof!!

I love Cassie! You may notice that there's no one else up here.. everyone else ate inside because although it looks nice out don't be fooled it was windy and cold but we roughed it! We had fun wandering around aterwards trying to decide what to do and ended up at walmart and other various sites before going back to their house and watching Sherlock Holmes.

Then they gave us their son's gecko-

Meet Echo the gecko! She is super cute and didn't get along with their other gecko (I guess they like living alone best). I hope she warms up to us because she still seems kinda shy..even after we spent a ton of money on her "accessories" which I wasn't planning on.. so she better start being appreciative and earn her keep!

Well that was a ton of photos and info so I bet nobody's even reading down this far, but it you are, thanks for baring with me! I need to learn how to condense my thoughts.. I also didn't edit most of the photos so sorry for the quality of some:)

BED TIME!!! Goodnight!
