Fill in the blank Friday

1. When I'm nervous My palms get moist and my stomach does flip flops it's luckily not that often though.

2. My favorite item in my closet is it's hard to pick a favorite..probably my Frye boots I got off ebay last year for a slammin' deal! Also my pearl necklace I wear all the time and I got it from National Geographic magazine ha ha!

3. Browsing the internet, reading a magazine/book, and cuddling with Race are my favorite things to do when I need to relax.

4. My favorite childhood memory is hmm one of them is when my sister and I used to pretend we were golden eagles and we'd make nests on the wide step where the stairs turned at the top, so it'd be like our nest was on the edge of a cliff. We would get fake eggs and fly around to get food for our chicks. It always was after we watched The Rescuers Down Under..we were obsessed .

5. Something you may not know about me is I have an extremly long tounge that would give Gene Simmons (from Kiss) a run for his money. I can pick my nose with it if I felt so inclined to..pretty gross I know.

6. A true friend will be able to pick up where you last left off even if you haven't seen each other in a while. Will tell you when you're being dumb but support you in your decisions as well. Will not be flakey and not get back to you..hmm will laugh and cry with you and will tell you when you have food stuck in your teeth .

7. Something I hope people think of when they think of me is that I love the Lord above all else, that I'm a good friend, a happy and positive person who likes to have fun (hopefully they would think that:) ).

Have a great Friday everyone!! Race and I are going to Mcmenamins tonight to use the soaking pool, get happy hour food, and watch a $3 movie and I can't wait:) I love dates with my husband!!

On a rainy Wednesday

Today was great. I watched the most adorable little boy adopted from Columbia. I'm really envious of his tan skin. He and his two adopted siblings make me want to adopt. I've always wanted to.. but they seal the deal:) We went to the dollar store and bought bubbles and then went and played with them at the park. I love it when there's a few stragglers that fly up really high and don't pop for a while. I think I was just as entertained as him. Well not quite.. he was begging me to let him skip preschool and I guess maybe I could have let him if I really wanted to play bubbles the rest of the day.. needless to say I didn't! The boy needs to learn his abc's so he can get his Nintendo ds and I don't want to hinder that!

Race and I went to Fuddruckers with my parents before church tonight. They are so generous to us, and I'm excited to start treating them one day:) It was delicious. I had a buffalo burger and I think they're leaner but I felt kind of guilty because they're so cute and there arn't many left in the wild! Pretty sure this was probably a farm bred one for eating though. The barn I used to keep my horse at had two buffalo and my horse was scared to death of them. I didn't really blame her though because one of them had this gross googly eye that kinda hung out..

Church was wonderful and humbling.
I did get a little discouraged because afterwards we talked to our friends who lived in these apartments for 3 months last summer and had to break their contract it was so bad in the summer.. it turns out they lived in the same building as us, actually the apartment right across from us on the 3rd floor! Race and I love it here so far but summer could be different. The two apartments under us smoke on their deck constantly and it drives us nuts! They said in the summer it gets really hot so you want to open your porch's sliding door and the windows, but then the smoke seeps in! Ick! Race went down yesterday and asked them to stop smoking with the bathroom fan on because then it comes into our bathroom when our fan is on (which she didn't believe, but agreed to start keeping the bathroom door closed).

Ugh. I'm super sensitive to smoke. I loooove this apartment and don't think we'll be able to get a house yet in June, so I'm going to start praying that they quit smoking.. or move! Hey it worked for pastor Brett and his neighbors (they moved after he prayed a lot)!! haha or maybe we'll find a slammin deal and be able to get a house?? Aww the power of prayer! I'm not going to worry about it now. I'm not a worrier or stresser so it feels weird venting about this. I wish I did stress a little more sometimes and I might have gotten better grades in college:) but whatever grades seem to not matter what so ever now and B's (okay and some C's) gave me a much "funner" 4 years!

I love the Olympics. We were just watching this speed skating relay event and poor South Korea thought they had the gold and got it taken away. At least that gave the USA a bronze although they totally didn't deserve it they were so far behind! I wish I was there. Since family camp (my favorite thing all summer) got cancelled (my church is moving to a new building and making cuts) we don't have too many plans this summer besides camping.. sooo I want to try and go back to Vancouver. We went for a pre marriage retreat and had so much fun last May. They have lots of hostels so I bet we could do it pretty cheaply, and there's a ton to do! Any married couples wanna join us?? :)

I'm getting sleepy. Have a great night!

I feel clean.

I'm home and showered! I always feel like I get extra dirty with these three kiddos..maybe it's a combination of playing in their sand table, lollipop sticky faces, a smelly old dog all up in my buisness, and snot noses rubbing against me.. but I love them:)

Here they are-

Quinn 3, Macky 4
although she's the same size and more aggressive :)
They have a big house and big yard that would be perfect for a pool!

The oldest one doesn't find taking pictures as fun as these two who were quite amused by it. This poor bulldog Blanche is getting old and had ringworm so she has bald spots all over that bleed! Ewww sorry if that was too much information.. I will spare you by not showing the close ups of these sores that the kids took when they got my cam!

Their living room is so cool I had to show you!
She is a great decorator and each room is incredible.
I love these lamps and wish they were mine. Mainly because they look like tripods and I love tripods!

That is all for now ta ta!

House Sitting

So I took over house sitting today (my sister had been with them the past 4 days) and I got here yesterday and tonight their parents fly in. They are adorable kids and full of a lot of spunk and spitfire! I let them play with my camera and took some pictures myself of their beautiful house and will post those tomorrow. I would right now but this dumb mac doesn't have an sd card slot like my pc does:)

I learned some great facts from a kids book-

*Ants don't sleep*

*An ostrich's eye is bigger then its brain*

*Butterflies taste with their feet*

*Dolphins sleep with one eye open*

*Slugs have four noses*

*Sharks don't have any bones*

*Crocodiles can't stick out their tongues*

*A duck's quack doesn't echo*

*A snail can sleep for three years*

*All polar bears are left handed*

*A mole can dig 295 feet in one night*

*Kangaroos can't walk backwards*

*The longest recorded flight of a chicken is 13 seconds*

*Cows can go up stairs but not down*

*A hedgehog's heart beats around 300 beats per minute*

I don't know if those even interest anyone.. but I really like animals and I end up learning a lot from kid's books! haha I also love reading our guinness book of world records. It amazes me and disgusts me. I guess I like facts in general. One of the lame things about not having cable is not getting the discovery channel which is my favorite! IBear Grylls. I was going for a heart but couldn't figure it out on this laptop but the apple basically means the same thing..
I have had a lot of fun watching these kids and Race helped a lot last night. It's kind of like playing house! I feel pretty safe saying that there is no way I will ever have a house this nice though.. probably not kids as cute as these ones either.. but mine will be better behaved possibly:) We'll see! Well Quinn and I are going to head to the library while her brothers are in school.. let's see if I can get her away from the boob tube..

Have a fantastic day!!

My Weekend

I had a great weekend! Especially since it was non-stop sunshine! It's crazy to see how happy it makes Oregonians.. everywhere you go people just seem to be in a great mood when it's sunny in the winter here! Too bad it's coming to an end on Tuesday and then we could possibly have 3 months of doom and gloom (rain)..

Friday night I babysat for a couple who said they haven't been out to dinner in 2 years because of having kids! They were so appreciative and payed me so well that I think I'll start prioritzing them when it comes to date nights (I get asked by a ton of people for every weekend)! Then I came home and Race's brother and friend were here and we watched the Olympics for quite a while.

Saturday I went thrifting with my friend Lauren and I took some pics to show you what I got..

This is a horrible picture but this vase-

These reindeer candle holders for next Christmas
I got a ton of Christmas stuff after Christmas this year for like 75-90% off at Pier One, Michaels, and online. So now I'm really pumped fpr next November when I can put them all up:)

A Christmas wreath with an ugly bow thing hanging down that needs to be chopped off!
Some more reindeer (my favorite xmas theme) that Lauren was going to get and spray paint silver but put them back and I got them, and want to copy her idea and spray paint them silver or that dark bronze color.
This hilarious horse necklace that I couldn't decide if I liked or not.. it has a nice long chain and was only 1.95 so I got it. Race made fun of it when I wore it last night.. so that made me want to like it more of course!

I also got a white hoodie that is in the dryer right now.

All that for $22! Red, White, and Blue is my new love and thank you Lauren for showing me!

Last night we celebrated my sister's bithday and tomorrow I'm taking her out to breakfast (for her actual birthday). This morning we went to church and it was excellent! I get so refreshed going Sundays and look forward to Wednesday nights which is like a pick-me-up in the middle of the week.
We went to costco for lunch and it's fun because we are starting to get to know the sample people and had a good 5 minute convo with one of them and as we left he said "see you next weekend!" haha I've always wanted someone to know me at a store.. I always pictured a coffee shop, but I guess Costco makes more sense with how much we go there!
We ran into friends from our home-group there and ended up eating lunch with them which was fun!
I got 2 wonderful purchases-

And my all time favorite movie in bluray! I already had it on dvd, but it had a coupon on the front for 10$ off if you already have it so that's pretty sweet and I'll just sell the one I already have.. I can't wait to see how it looks on our tv!

I hope I have sweet dreams of William Wallace tonight:) mmmhmmm!

I rode my horse today and it was amazing!
Here we are at the beach several years back-

Here is Race on her in Corvallis 3 years ago when we had snow!

I love Bella and am so thankful for her:) I need to post a more recent photo! My goal is to breed her within the next year and raise and break her baby!

I've really, really been missing my mini horse PopEye who I had to sell a year ago. Biggest mistake of my life and I want to buy him back! haha
Here we are as shepherd's in a manger scene.. we did it 3 or 4 years in a row at our old church!
In high school I put him in the back of the suburban and to a lacrosse game! I also brought him into the high school for my senior project and thankfully he held his bowels:)
Now I miss him more... bad idea posting pics!

Race and I went to our home-group tonight which I'm loving because it's about 11 couples who have been married for less then 5 years and don't have kids yet so it's fun being with people we have so much in common with!
Yay USA leading the medal count!! And yay for our underdog and unfavored young hockey team beating Canada! Although I did feel a little bad..
I'm watching the news and they're saying we could have a record low of 28 degrees in the morning! Whew! Glad Bella has her blankie on and that I have a roof over my head!

This ended up being really long.. but hopefully the photos helped:)
Have a great Monday!

Fill in the blank Friday

So I'm copying what my friend Lauren did on her blog.. although I don't know where the under line tool is so mine arn't really blank spaces to fill in.. so I guess it should be called- answer these questions on a Friday. Not nearly as catchy.

1. If I could medal in an olympic event it would be:
winter-snowboarding
summer-Reining on a nice reining stud horse

2. If I was stranded on a deserted island I'd take:
Race , Bella, a surfboard, my Bible, bug spray, and if I had a Kindle full of books I’d bring that too!

3. Germs are my most irrational fear. Oh and being claustrophobic.. especially when Race tries to “playfully” push me under water when were swimming… I panic.

4. I'd rather watch public broadcast everyday, than  play video games everyday.

5. I am: overjoyed at the amazing sun the last few days and that we have a gorgeous weekend coming up!

6. I should really be: taking a quick nap before I go babysit…but that’s what spark and energy drinks are for !

7. One of my favorite things in all the world is: finding a really good sale, deals make me happy and it’s rare I buy anything not on sale.. shopping energizes me.. just thinking about it makes me think I no longer need a nap!

Have a great Friday night! I'm hoping to catch some more Olympics while I babysit, after the kids go to bed of course:)

Sunshine in Oregon is my friend.

The past two days have been SOO beautiful here! I feel like February always has a nice week or two around my sister's birthday every year! I haven't been able to ride my horse.. but today when Race and I went to watch these kids during a Bible study we went a few minutes early to give Bella grain (she lives at the place we go watch the kids Thursday mornings). It was cute because there were about 7 horses laying down together and just enjoying the sun! I went and sat on one while Bella was eating and Race decided to jump up on one the standing ones. It made me jealous and annoyed that he could get up there so easily! I could if I really wanted to but it was like effortless for him to swing on up a bareback horse! I guess that's one thing he'll always one up in with horses, but hopefully nothing else!

We had fun with the kiddos. It was a small group today so we played "500" with a frisbee, jumped in the foam pit, did lots of jump roping, and visited the baby goats. Race's job is part time right now as they train him to become their salesman, so Thursdays he watches kids with me in the morning and then works construction at his mom's house. Tuesdays he works in my dad's office. He's just about done with his mom's house so if anyone wants any labor on Thursdays give him a call! ha ha!

I then watched my friend Dana's precious girls (my flower girls) who I always have a ball with. We went on a walk (well I was walking while they biked and scootered.. it was really hard to keep up) and Lexi was ahead on the scooter and I walked by an old (75ish to clarify since my mom gets mad when I call 50 old now) woman in her yard who told me I had a very polite daughter! Lexi must have said hello and been sweet (I have no doubt about that) but I was a little offended that she thought I was old enough to have an 8 year old! Let's see I woulda had to have gotten knocked up at 14! No thank you. I'll take it as a compliment since Lexi is so beautiful!

Ashli, Race, and Lexi camping this summer!

Well I've been writing way too long of posts and probably nobody wants to waste that much time reading (although not going to lie I waste a ton of time reading other people's lengthy blogs) so I'm keeping this short and sweet! I actually have a tv show starting so that's part of my motive in ending this:) We just got basic stations last night and they're free! We plugged a cord into the wall and wa la 1080p on our new tv:)

I'm excited for this weekend to go “thrifting” with my friend Lauren then celebrate my sister's birthday and on Sunday after church I get to see one of my bff's Chelsea and then home-group! Whew! I love fun weekends involving friends and family ...they're the best!! Okay now to my guilty pleasure the last 5 years- Grey's Anatomy I'm embarrassed to admit!

Loving and respecting your husband

So I'm going to this four week Bible study entitled "Loving you Husbands," by Judy Slaughter. She is a wonderful lady in charge on the women’s ministries at Athey. It is SO great and I wish every married or wanting to someday be married woman was in it with me! I'm learning so much and having my beliefs of what I want to do in the future confirmed. I thought I’d put down what she’s been sharing and what I’ve been learning so I can look back on it and maybe someone else might get something from it!

One thing we talked about last night that sunk in with me was how far our society misaligns with the Bible and what is says about being a wife. This country applauds the critical and independent spirit in women and it's the opposite of what the Word tells us. I think just about every rap song says independent woman somewhere in it now! There are so many passive men now with women that want to walk all over them! I have a very strong personality and I praise the Lord that He gave me someone to handle me and put me in my place! I'm so thankful I have a man who is so worthy of my respect and love. Although even if he's not, or does something that isn't worthy of my respect I'm called to anyways. :)

Ephesians 5:22 calls women to respect and submit to their husbands and that is my goal.

I'm also doing a love and respect video series with my homegroup and Dr. Emerson Eggerichs (the author of Love and Respect) says some great stuff!
-A wife needs to feel loved to feel fulfilled.

Loved for who she is.

Respected for who he is.

A man will act unloving when he's not feeling respected and a woman will not want to respect when she's feeling unloved. A cycle that will keep going! Without love she reacts, without respect, he reacts.

Col. 5:19 talks about having agape love for your wives.

1 Pt. 3:1-2 Unconditional respect for his spirit and unconditional love for who she is.

Love empowers a wife and respect empowers a husband. The key to motivation is meeting their deepest need. I need to focus on how I can change!

We just started that series but that's a summary on some of the things I took notes on. Good stuff!

I want to remember my wedding vows each day and how happy I was to yield and surrender myself to Race. I'm so blessed to have such a Godly man to be unified with and stuck with the rest of my life!

I want to be a woman who doesn't harbor or stew over things but full of forgiveness! I want to truly be one with Race. I want to ask his opinion and approval before I do things and come under his protection as the head of my house. I want to only focus on myself and how I can change and never try and "fix" or change Race. I want to serve and bless Race and not make everything about me. I want the Lord to show me ways where I can grow and become more like Him. I know the enemy wants to destroy marriage and therefore I want to feed and nurture mine to become more Christ centered and be the best it can be EVERYDAY! Marriage takes a lot of work and I want to work on it always, never giving up. The Lord has called me to be Race's completer not his competor.

Proverbs 19:13 says a nagging wife is like dripping water.
No marriage is exempt! I'm not called to be Race's mother! :) Nagging in no way shows respect!

Ways we can respect our husbands- by not interrupting him, correcting him, talking on the phone while with him, making him wait at church, putting him down publically, by not sharing his flaws with others- "uncovering him"

One way to tell if he's feeling disrespected is if he's "suddenly -mad -out -of -the -blue!" Quick to anger over something you said or did is a sure sign he's felt disrespected.

Proverbs 31- the heart of her husband is safely trusted with her.
Keep him safe by not slandering and disrespecting him to others. Your husband wants to be your hero! Look at him the same as when you were dating:) I want to be Race's biggest fan and cheerleader!

I want my motivation for a good marriage to be to honor and bless God. The Lord is the one who will do the work. I need to yield to Him and say yes to Him and see what He will do!

Holiness leads to Happiness.

Titus 2:3-5
Older women likewise are to be revered in their behavior, not malicious gossips, not enslaved to much wine, teaching what is good, so that they may encourage the young women to love their husbands, to love their children, to be sensible, pure, workers at home, kind, being subject to their own husbands, so that the word of God will not be dishonored.

It's seen so clearly in the Bible women's role as mothers and wives. I'm so happy to have a pastor who preaches women being at home, and so many Godly women at Athey who are at home raising their children up in the Lord. It’s encouraging being surrounded by families like this when the world had such a twisted version and looks down upon a woman who isn’t working. Even if it means sacrificing the double income I want to learn to live with less and be a Godly wife, mother, and home maker. If I were out of the house working my children and husband would get what's “left over” of me each evening and that's not what I want. I have a desire to home school my kids and raise them with the right values and make the Lord their first priority!

Well that’s what I’ve been learning and I hope it wasn’t too much rambling, or too hard to follow!

Here are the verses I used in my wedding that are some of my favorite on love and marriage-

Ecclesiastes 4:12

“Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken."

Song of Solomon 8:6-7
Set me as a seal upon thine heart, as a seal upon thine arm: for love is strong as death; jealousy is cruel as the grave: the coals thereof are coals of fire, which hath a most vehement flame. Many waters cannot quench love, neither can the floods drown it: if a man would give all the substance of his house for love, it would utterly be contemned.

Ruth 1:16-17

“Entreat me not to leave you,
Or to turn back from following after you;
For wherever you go, I will go;
And wherever you lodge, I will lodge;
Your people shall be my people,
And your God, my God.
Where you die, I will die,
And there will I be buried.
The LORD do so to me, and more also,
If anything but death parts you and me.”

James 1:17

Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows

Romans 8:28

And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.

1 Corinthians 13:4-7

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

Colossians 3:12-16

Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, long-suffering; forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye. And above all these things put on charity, which is the bond of perfectness. And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful. Let the world of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with the grace in your hearts to the Lord.

Psalm 128:1-4
Blessed is every one that feareth the Lord; that walketh in his ways. For thou shalt eat the labor of thine hands: happy shalt thou be, and it shall be well with thee. Thy wife shall be as a fruitful vine by the sides of thine house: they children like olive plants round about thy table. Behold, that thus shall the man be blessed that feareth the Lord.

Presidents Day

So I had an unexpected 4 day weekend after the lady I nanny for today cancelled because her husband didn't have work. I cleaned our apartment top-bottom, even got the baseboards:) I love cleaning and once we have a dog I'm going to vacuumn everyday. I find it so satisfying having a see-through vacuum and dumping the dirt/dust into the trash afterwards! After cleaning I went shopping for birthday presents for my sister! It was beautiful today and I must say we've had a pretty great winter here in Oregon. My definition of great at least.. I'm the type who probably wouldn't miss the rain if it left and never came back. I like how it makes everything look though.. I'm truly a sun lover. Raining at night 3 nights a week would satisfy me and then the stars would be out the other 4 nights! That would be perfect.

I love having a birthday in August because it usually falls around a meteor shower and I almost always sleep outside. My friends and I started doing it after my birthday parties ever since like 4th grade! One more great thing about growing up on acreage with a big ol' yard. The mole holes in that big yard are a not so great thing and will be the death of my pop! I need to upload this great photo of him I snuck on my cell phone where he's standing by a mole hole with his .46 caliber "kill person gun" at his side. I have always called it that because it's such a gangster looking gun and I don't know why anyone would buy it except for killing.. I guess I'm thankful moles and raccoons are the only thing he'd ever use it on! It's a lot of fun to shoot.. has a great kick to it! I like guns if you can't tell:) Race and I should get a real one besides a .22 and air soft...

Yesterday after church Race and I have a fancy lunch at our next door neighbor and my second home- Costco. We've been looking at TVs every time we go, and yesterday Race was like wouldn't it be fun and impulsive if we just bought one?? I must say we have been very responsible and put a lot of our wedding money into rent and stuff when we wanted to get a TV right away.. we've been using Race's $30 TV off craigslist and we watch a lot of movies together.
We went back home and I started this blog and went and fed my horse and then when I got home I found that Race had been researching the TV we liked and he still wanted to go get it. It did seem impulsive for him and I liked it:) I spend money very easily and he's good for me because he researches things to death and bites his nails and looses sleep over purchases! Okay I'm totally exaggerating.. I just meant to say he's very good with money:)

He was like a little giddy kid the whole 3 minute drive and then his face dropped when we got there to find Costco closes early on Sundays and there was a nice big vacant parking lot!
He sulked back home and we watched "Land of the Lost" on our old box TV. Which was quite inappropriate at times! Have you ever seen that movie? I remember seeing Will Ferrell and dinosaurs in the commercial so I assumed it was a kids movie.. hopefully not too many parents took their innocent children to the theatre thinking the same thing! Probably a lot of the innuendos went over their little peabody heads anyways..

So we made a date to go get the TV today at 3:30 and I met Race at Costco with my truck. We had a costco cash card from my mom and sister who got us two things we had to return so that helped and then the rest was tax returns. Thanks government:) Never thought I'd be saying that..

I helped Race carry it up our 3 flights of stairs and then I left him to be manly and set it all up, and I went and saw "When in Rome" with my mom. I bought a movie the other day that came with a free ticket specifically for that movie so that was neat. I shared a giant diet coke with my mom and had to go to the bathroom twice during the movie. Embarrassing but oh so worth it. I am a diet coke addict and need to join a recovery program. I figure its not that bad.. I don't smoke, do drugs, or drink alcohol so I'm okay right??? I know making excuses which probably means I have a problem and should stop justifying it!

I got several texts during the movie from my nerdy husband about the TV's specs and how amazing it was and then when I got home he made me pose by it to compare. I'm 60 inches and its 52 so I'm still bigger haha! I can't say that about many things but glad I still one up our TV! It looks pretty big in our apartment and I'm excited to try out a bluray on it (we only have 3)! We decided it didn't look nearly as big in the store surrounded by other big TVs in a huge warehouse.. but if you come over you'll laugh at how big it looks in such a small room!

Excuse my disheveled appearance but I like to be comfy when I get my Harry Potter on! I'm horrible at cheesy poses. I like taking photos better then being in them.

Well that is all. Kind of a boring post. It was exciting for us though as it was our first big purchase besides out mattress which cost a little more!
I'm hoping it is clear in the morning so I can go ride my horse before work. Yay for Wednesday and Thursday looking glorious!!

Oh and P.S. I had the maitenance man come to today to fix our sink's garbage disposal and he pulled out my 1/4 teaspoon measuring spoon! I was looking for that this weekend while baking. haha!

Sunday, February 14, 2010

So here it goes I'm starting a blog! We'll see if I can figure this out or can think of enough things to talk about..

Here I am this summer on July 13th with my best bud and soul mate:)

Well today is Valentines Day and I read a great quote in a magazine yesterday-

"I don't have anything personal against the day itself; I just don't think it's a very nice day. My boyfriend and I don't need a special day to celebrate our relationship. I think it's plain rude that there's a day reserved for people who are in love. What about people who aren't in love? They don't get a special day. They get happy hour, but that's every day, so it isn't really that special."

haha I sent it to my sister who is single and if you know of any single attractive, Godly men between the ages of 20-25 let me know. Not in that order necessarily! Here she is-

Isn't she pretty?! Inside and out! She is going to be 21 on Monday and I can't believe it!

Race and I have been married 7 months and 1 day now! Yay for old timers! We celebrated Vday yesterday since we went to church today and I figured Saturday was just better anyways since we have work tomorrow and we're like an old married couple now and go to bed by 11. We moved back from Corvallis (where we both went to Oregon State University) in December and I love being back in the Portland area. I do miss the "night life" which isn't what you might be thinking (parties, bars) but I mean basically everyone was up until at least 1am because everyone's in college and that's just what you do! I was never up studying then but a lot of people were. It was just fun having roommates up and people out and about then and now with working that would be just weird and irresponsible staying up that late. I have a hard enough time waking up in the morning as it is going to bed at 11! Thank goodness for my friends at Advocare and their delicious creation of Spark and Slam! I might become a distributor and start selling it I'm so fond of it.

Anyways so back to my Vday that was celebrated yesterday. I woke up at 8:30 and spent 2 hours making Race quiche and orange poppyseed muffins. I just found out that he loves quiche and he requested I make it for Thanksgiving to take to my grandparents house.. I ran it by my mom who shot it down as not a Thanksgiving food, with which I had to agree. It turned out pretty good.. I made two and might freeze one. That's my problem- I make way too much of everything! I did in purpose this time because it had me buy so many dang ingredients that I didn't want things like heavy whipping cream, whole milk, and fancy gruyere cheese to go to waste. So wala twice the food! Probably why I think I might have gained weight since being married... it's hard being around a 6' 1'' guy who can eat whatever he wants and still have a 6 pack and be 5' nothing" and feel it go straight to my thighs! Sigh.

After I made those things I got to work on a bourbon pecan fudge cake. I used my kitchen aid and food processor for the first time which was a plus. But a minus was that the cake took SO many steps and seemed just sort of average. It was by far the most detailed recipe I've ever followed and didn't look nearly as pretty as the picture. I'll stick with German chocolate cake or something simpler next time. I'm the type that doesn't like to measure very exactly and just kinda add lib while baking!

Race was a great Valentine and fed my horse for me while I caught up on my silly tv shows- Private Practice and Greys Anatomy:) We went to the St. Johns Mcmenamins and ate and saw the movie Youth in Revolt which was pretty hilarious if you like Michael Cerda, who is probably the most type casted actor ever! I love Mcmenamins movies because they're only $3 and not on dvd yet but not still in the big theatres! Great for movies like comedies that aren't really enhanced that much by being on a big screen.

I got Race a "fully automatic" air soft gun like his friend Mike's that he's been lusting after. I also got him an AFI live concert dvd, new costco white t-shirts (with the stipulation that I get to throw out his old nappy ones), and pug pepper and salt shakers that are magnetic and kiss! Race really likes my aunt and uncle's pug Zoe and I've now been feeding his addiction I helped create the past 3 1/2 years and not we have lots of pug stuff and are hopefully getting a real one this summer or fall:) I ordered Pugs for Dummies off ebay yesterday.

Race got me more chocolate then I know what to do with an amazon giftcard for music (partly selfish of him because I prefer itunes but he prefers amazon) and beautiful flowers! What a gem. The best chocolate in the world he got me last year and now again called Lindt and it is white chocolate and coconut, YUM! And some kind that is 90% dark chocolate! Wow almost full dark! haha I've only had 70% before so we'll see how much darker it tastes.

So this is probably the longest first post ever! I like to talk so I think I might end up liking this better then facebook. Hopefully I'll meet some nice blog friends like my real life friend Lauren has! Her blog is called http://thelittlethingswedo.blogspot.com/ and I have been stalking it for some time now and she is my inspiration for starting one! Now let's see if I can post pictures.. if anyone is good at this and wants to help I wouldn't mind:) Is there a spell check tool?? Also send me your blog addresses so I can have some friends!!

Race took this pic with a little extension monopod arm for our camera that came in handy!

Those of you who actually know me may have noticed I wore this dress last year-
Well that's because I have a husband who now sees everything I spend and I knew he wouldn't think it's necessary for me to buy a new dress after I have a closet full of them so I didn't even ask! And it's bright red so I figure if I'm going to wear it this is the day to wear it!

"Love never gives up. Love cares more for others than for self. Love doesn't want what it doesn't have. Love doesn't strut, doesn't have a swelled head, doesn't force itself on others, isn't always "me first," doesn't fly off the handle, doesn't keep score of the sins of others, doesn't revel when others grovel, takes pleasures in the flowering of truth, puts up with anything, trusts God always. always looks for the best, never looks back, but keeps going  tothe end. Love never dies." 1 Cor. 13

The BEST picture of love:) This isn't the version I'm used to but Judy gave it to me at the "Loving your husbands" Bible study I'm going to and I think its another great translation!

Happy Valentines day! ♥♥♥
